2013 Season Success

The 2013 season we didn’t accomplish everything we wanted to do.  We were short of our goal of top 30 in national points.  We were 40^th.  39^th if we would have been placed correctly at Casino Speedway.  We did not get our first win, however we finished 2^nd 3 times.  We finished 5^th in points at Madison Speedway, 8^th in points at Casino Speedway and 15^th in point at fiesta city Speedway in Montevideo MN.  In our 45 shows we only had 3 DNFs and to most everyone that understands racing this is amazing!  We have to thank our sponsors for all the support and we look forward to their continued support in the 2014 season.  Special Thanks to my brother and crew chief Allan Mayer and also the rest of my family for all the time and effort spent toward our success. 

4 nights, one new to us track

Rain shortened weekend last weekend. Friday night we finnished 8th in Montivideo, MN. Saturday 6th in Madison MN but the car was making a noise it didn't normally make. Sunday got rained out. Monday night Dad pulled the transmission and brought it to our sponsor automatic transmission and gear, turned out to be the torch converter. A very special thanks to our sponsor and Dad who is putting the car back together so we can go back racing.
This week we plan of running at Canby MN thurday, first Wissota sanctioned race at the track in a very long time. Friday we plan to run Montevideo MN, Saturday we plan to go to Madison MN, and Sunday back in Watertown, SD.
As of right now we are doing well in national points, sitting 11th.

up next... a normal weekend

Last week we ran 4 shows instead of the 5 planned. Wednesday we finished 3rd, best finish ever and first top five of the year, at KRA speedway in Wilmar, MN.  Thursday we traveled west to Huron SD and finished the race, 11th? Friday we went a little north and raced in Aberdeen finishing 6th out of 33 cars that showed up.  Friday being a very late night and Brainerd MN a very long drive so we took Saturday night off and lit off some fireworks. Sunday we finished 6th in Watertown.
This next weekend may be a little uneventful compared to the last few and next couple. We plan on running in Montivideo MN, Madison, MN and Watertown, SD. Also on Monday Kenny will be on the racing show at 6:30 on 96.9, or online @ http://www.kdlocountry.com

9 race nights in 11 days!

Last weekend we raced 4 nights. Thursday night we raced at KRA speedway in Willmar MN the track is really unique and a challenge to race at, the competition was fast but all the racing was clean and it was a great learning night and we finished 8th in the feature. Friday night we went to Montivideo MN after taking the morning to back half the car, we had a good night and finished 10th. Saturday we went to Madison MN for a special and ended running 12th after starting 21st and going for a coupe wild rides.  Watertown SD on Sunday was a struggle, we got wrecked on the second lap of the heat race and had to fix to make it to the B-feature. We won the B but only ran 4 laps because all but four cars crashed out. We finnished 14th in the feature but we would have done better had the right rear not gone flat. The important part of this weekend is that we ran and competed four complete shows.
Plans for the fourth of July week include fireworks... at the race track, 5 nights of racing. Wednesday we plan on going back to KRA speedway in Wilmar MN, Thursday the Fourth is Huron SD or Jamestown ND, Friday we plan on going to Fergus Falls, MN or Aberdeen, SD, Saturday could be a day off but more than likely we will be racing in Brainerd, MN, Sunday we will either go back to the demolition derby with jumps that is Watertown, SD or travel up to Lisbon, ND to conclude our busy week.

It has been a couple weeks But the rain has also kept us off the track, we went to another track that we had never been to, Fergus Falls MN, we like the track but we had some ignition switch problems and had to run the b and didnt quite make the feature.  The World of Outlaw sprint cars put on a good show and it was an interesting and informative night. We finished 11th and 8th the last two weeks in Watertown respectively. 

This weekend we have 3 or 4 races planned depending on the weather and timing of activities, Thursday night we might be going Wilmar MN, Friday night Montevideo MN, Saturday night Madison MN, and Sunday night Watertown SD.

This Last weekend we had some rough luck with the weather along with some with the tracks.  Friday we made it to Montevideo MN wear we finished 3rd in the heat and 11th in the feature. In the feature we were having some trouble but weren't doing too bad, then a car spun in front of us and we slid sideways into them and somehow got called for the caution and sent to the back. The race also got shortened from 16 laps to what we figure was 8 so fighting back to an 11th place finish out of 24 cars starting we consider a good night. Saturday and Sunday both got rained out, we tried to go different places but everywhere we thought of got rained out too.
This next weekend we are going to try go Montevideo Friday night, Saturday will be one of our rare nights off and Sunday should be Watertown, or maybe Lisbon ND depending on the water

This weekend we got in 3 of the 5 shows we were planning on running this weekend, Wednesday in Montevideo and Thursday in Wilmer and Ada were cancelled due to rain. Friday we ran in Montevideo MN and finished 3rd in the heat and had a good run in the feature finishing 7th, much better than we have done in the past at the track and our best finish of the year. Saturday we ran or tried to anyways in Madison MN, we go wrecked out of the heat and we started in the back of the feature but there was some lingering issues and the power steering belt broke and with how full of holes the track was the car felt like something was broken so we didn't finish.  Sunday night we ran in Watertown SD the car and driver were both not ready for the track conditions of the heat race, kind of tacky in spots, kind of dry slick in other spots, and even greasy in others, making the car hard to drive, so we had to go threw the b-main.  In the b-main we finished fourth, transferring to the feature, but during the race another car got out of shape and Kenny ended up hitting him with the rear of the car breaking a weld holding the rear end still in the car, with the help of a welder, a new shock, and some pop rivets we got out for the feature. we started 20th in the feature and finished 10th, this was not without struggle though, there were many wrecks and a lot of damaged cars to drive around. We cannot complain about the finish so overall it was an okay weekend.
For the upcoming weekend we have three races planned, Friday in Montevideo MN, Madison MN Saturday, and Sunday in Watertown

Review of the weekend and next weeks plans

Rain, rain, rain, we made it 40 miles north of Watertown on our way to Fergus Falls, as they were the only ones still running with our class, before they cancelled too. Saturday we made it to Huron and got racing in, the track was tacky and made it hard to pass, restrictor plate racing on dirt, we ended 15th right wear we started. Sunday in Watertown was also rained out. Even though it never actually rained all day in Watertown it would have been miserable to be a fan because it was cold windy and humid. Monday we had plans to go to Madison, MN but it was rained out. Since one night of racing isn't enough for a long weekend we took the long way home and went to Lisbon, ND the tack is short with long corners and lot of fun, we started 3rd in the heat and we were fast and ended up 3rd transferring to the A-main, we started 5th in the feature and for the first few laps went forward until the second caution, then the bottom side of the track went away and being new to the track hadn't figured out the top side yet. We finished 9th which we will take considering it was our first time their.
This week we plan on making a sweep threw Minnesota weather permitting, Wednesday is Montivideo's make up for last Friday, Thursday is either Ada or Wilmer, MN, Friday is Montivideo, Saturday is Madison, MN and Sunday is our only race in state, Watertown,SD. The schedual is depending on the weather, see everyone at the track!

Well the racing season has started! We now have 3 shows in and are looking at 4 this memorial day weekend, weather permitting. We are making the car better with the addition of scales and some other new tools. The first night in Huron we had some issues with the engine missing, but with new plugs, cap, rotor, and module we were able to run the feature. Finishing 19th we realized we had a lot of work to do so we put the car on the scales and made some changes and found some speed for the next night in Watertown. We were on our way to the front when we had a tire go down but we still finished 16th. This weekend was the midwest mod roundup in Watertown. Saturday we started 14th and had some speed but the track went away and only worked up to 8th but it was a decent night. Sunday was "rained" out. This week we plan on going to Montevideo MN Friday night, Huron SD Saturday night, Sunday night in Watertown, and Monday for the season opener in Madison MN.
